Abstract

Transportation activities are one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesian urban areas. This study aims to measure ambient CO₂ concentrations and estimate emissions from transportation activities and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) use on Jalan Haji Agus Salim, Kota Baru, Jambi City. A quantitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed. CO₂ concentrations were measured over seven days (23–29 July 2025) at two points using an AMF-102 CO₂ Data Logger equipped with a Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) sensor, while vehicle volumes were obtained through traffic counting. Emissions were estimated using the IPCC (2006) approach. The results showed an average ambient CO₂ concentration of 413.26 ppm, with relatively higher values observed during nighttime. Transportation activities, particularly private motorized vehicles, were identified as the primary contributor to the primary carbon footprint at the study site, while the contribution from LPG use by vendors was comparatively smaller. These findings provide baseline data to support emission control efforts in high-activity areas of Jambi City, including periodic emission testing and the development of low-emission transportation modes.
